Fuzzy baby update

I took him to the wildlife center yesterday. They said he looked pretty good, that he was skinny but clean (could it be all the baby shampoo I used? lol)

They said he was 4 weeks old and his eyes will open sometime next week. He is in his own incubator until they make sure he isn't sick. After that he'll be added to the baby squirrel population so he can learn to socialize. When he's 12 weeks old he'll be released into the mountains. How cool is that?

One of the best things about being disorganized is finding things you were sure you accidentally threw away.

After the cruise I just knew I had tossed my shells from Jamaica as we were cleaning up the cabin. I was wrong, here they are :) They are TEENY TINY like 1/3 of my pinkie nail little. Aren't they pretty?

And here is an aww moment for you. Tomorrow he heads to the center. I hope they say "what a good job you've done" not "holy crap you've almost killed this squirrel". I worry that he doesn't eat a lot but every time he start smacking his lips together in goes the bottle. He grunts when he has had enough, it's so cute it hurts. He also kicks his legs when he's dreaming and his tail flickers. He is currently living in a plastic container with holes punched in the lid wrapped up in flannel scraps. I nuke the scraps 30 seconds and he'll just roll himself right up in it. It's pretty darn cute :)

I also found Carnival Freedom pics online tonight too. This is the boat our group is taking Dec-08.

It's all about me...

I got this off of Krista's blog...

1. Can you cook? Yes! Visit the Garden Gnome for recipes :)

2. What was your dream growing up? I don't think I really had one. I knew I wanted kids but I didn't dream about Price Charming or a big house.

3. What talent do you wish you had? Singing!

4. Favorite place? On the beach

5. Favorite vegetable? Cucumbers

6. The last book you read? Does a magazine count? I finally caught up on my Cosmos and Parenting magazines.

7. What zodiac sign are you? Scorpio

8. Any Tattoos and /or Piercings? nope neither - if I got a tattoo my dad would take it off with a belt sander. I'm not too keen on needles (like fainting dead away not too keen) so heck if I'd let something like that pierce me on purpose? YIKES lol

9. Worst Habit? My junk food habit. Chips are evil!

10. Do we know each other outside of this blog? I know one local adoptive mom who reads it sometimes, we are going to China together (same LID and agency) - Hi Kathy!

11. What is your favorite sport? Is cruising a sport?

12. Negative or Optimistic attitude? Optimistic :)

13. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator? I'd clean out my purse. I'm one of those who just toss everything in it without putting it in the right spots.

14. Worst thing to ever happen to you? I've had a few bad things happen. A drunk driver hit me, my condo was burned up by the unit below it and I've been through a divorce. But truly you get over all that stuff. This sounds silly but the worst thing that has happened to me in the past few years has been China closing for singles. I don't know where Natalie's sister will be from now.

15. Tell me a weird fact about you: I don't eat yogurt anymore because I can't recycle the cups.

16. Do you have any pets? Yes and I am suffering from pet owner guilt. The 4 kittens went outside yesterday to live permanently. They cry at the door and it kills me. But I can't have 6 cats in a 1000 SF house with a baby coming. That's not fair to my 10 year old cat that gets the crap beat out of her by Elvis (kitten) and it's really not fair to me because no matter how much I clean I can't keep the house up. I want to create a home for my little one, not just get by. Oh and to answer the question - 2 inside, Wookie & Precious. Elvis, Lulu, Fifi, Laney, Beacon, Stevie, Opie & Olivia are outside. The last four are shared pets with my elderly next door neighbor. I feed them and had them fixed because she couldn't afford it. She's the one that carries them around like babies and coos at them.

17. Do you know how to do the Macarena? You don't want to see me dance :)

18. What time is it where you are now? 1:35 PM ET

19. Do you think clowns are cute or scary? CREEPY

20. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? To have perfect vision!

21. What color eyes do you have? Hazel

22. Ever been arrested? nope!

23. Bottle or Draft? Draft

24. If you won $10,000 dollars today, what would you do with it? Spend 5K on the kitchen, 1K on landscaping, 2K to the vacation fund and 1K I'd just blow.

25. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew? I like extra sugarless any flavor

26. Which is your favorite bar to hang at? don't really have one

27. Do you believe in ghosts? nope

28. Favorite thing to do in your spare time? Spend time on the beach

29. Do you swear a lot? not really

30. What is your favorite swear word? it has to be the s-word. It's dirty without being too dirty lol

31. Biggest pet peeve? people that can't manage their money who complain that I go on trips all the time. Here's a thought, stop spending $100 on a sweater and you too can do something with your life.

32. In one word, how would you describe yourself? happy :)

If you read this I hereby tag you. Stick it on your blog and link back in the comments :)

Squeaky-poo

Yesterday I heard a baby squirrel squeaking in my soffits. Not a new thing, every year a squirrel dislocates a section of it and decides to have her babies there. I found the poor little baby dead, halfway hanging out of the hole this morning :(

So tonight when I heard another little squeak I decided to take action. I found Squeaky-poo in the soffit. Poor little guy's skin was just hanging on him and he was covered over in fleas. I thought about it for awhile and decided the mom wasn't there anymore or she wouldn't of let the other die (I think it starved). Squeaky-poo has had two baby shampoo baths (which by the way, kill fleas) and has had half a nurser of sugar water. He really liked the warm water and he really likes being clean! He'd just streeeetch out when I wave the hair dryer over him.

He's curled up in a towel right now snoozing away. I think he likes being clean and warm :) I have a message in with a wildlife rehab center, if I can keep him going tonight hopefully I'll be able to run him out there tomorrow. He'll learn how to be a squirrel there...let's hope the others don't make fun of him for smelling so good :)

Oh and I learned something valuable today that I feel I need to share. When purchasing a sofa, do not buy an Ashley brand. They use a piece of pressed sawdust on the front bottom portion and attach the springs to it. Everyone else uses that board as a deco piece, it's part of the structure of an Ashley one. Ask me how I know? Mine broke last year and they put in metal plates and screwed it together. It broke on the other side and they wouldn't even repair it. So I got a $500 store credit and picked out a new one today. I can't remember who made it but it's a little darker and the fabric is thicker. I will post pictures when it comes :)

Tada!

Do you like my stripes? I've been told they are more grown up than a Superman blog. Heck I'm 32, if I'm not grown up now then just forget it :)

I need help with the very white title. I don't know where to find something cute like funky flowers to stick all over it. Any ideas?

Go Angelina Go!

Who couldn't be happy for her (and him)! She is adopting another child, this time a little brother for Maddox (big bro for the girls). That makes one bio and three adopted - you go girl!

I don't understand the grief that she gets when she decides to add to her family. People always say that she skips the process and does things illegally. Come on, we don't know every single detail of her life. We don't know when paperwork is filed. We don't know when her home visits are. If I were her I'd make people in the process sign confidentiality papers. I mean do people really believe what they read online?

For those of you who think she is baby collecting (a term used in my singles adoption group last week..a term that absolutely horrified me) dig down deep. Are you upset that she has the financial means to be able to adopt more than once? It's not cheap people, mine is creeping up to over $17K. That's a lot of money when you don't even make 40K. Are you upset that she has the support of her partner, a man who loves her kids as much as she does?

I guess it all boils down to if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all. What she does is none of our business. If you can't be happy for a family that is growing by either bio births or adoption then keep it to yourself.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I've decided to stop moping.

Here are some good things to think about...

I think I'll have a baby picture in June :) I have to clean out her nursery, the amount of things I've bought her is just out of control. I don't remember my resoning for moving her to the office and my office to her room but it was a dumb one. I am pretty sure I am going to flip flop that around because I would like to add french doors from my living room into that room and wall in the door that goes out into the hallway. Plus I am still not 100% about her color theme, I want lilac I think. The pink I painted is PINK. My house is more of a blue/turquiose kind of place, that little room is pretty loud! Hmm maybe I'll go to ebay and see if I can find bedding I like better :D

I have a maybe on 4 cabins for the cruise Dec 2008. That is half a group. If Kathy & Matt decide to come (hint hint hehe) then we are up to 5! If Chelle's grandparents like their first cruise in Nov then they'll come too and bring everyone. That will be a total of 10 cabins. Fun times for all :)

I got my TV cabinet last Monday. They said they didn't have it in stock and it was ordered. Well my dad just went back for something else there was one. The instructions said it would take 2 hours by one person. I'd like to hunt down whomever wrote that on the instruction manual and club them to death with the parts I had leftover. SEVEN hours later it's done!!

Hey look, mom bought me a big box!

TADA!

Whew, that was hard, I need a nap.

I am waiting for warmer weather to paint the deck. Olivia was nice enough to quality check the rails:

My tomatoe seedlings are growing. The biggest one is a whole inch tall. I also have daffodils blooming in the small wooded area behind the house:

SOOO I'll keep thinking happy thoughts. Talk to you later - Kim

Balance

A super crappy day for one person can be a wonderful day for the next.

My cat died yesterday. My almost 14 yr old kitty that has been with me for a long long time. I am still looking around for him. But he's not here :(

But my friend Tammy got her referral! A beautiful little fat baby with lots of hair. She has been waiting for her daughter for a long long time, I'm very happy for her!

So I guess bad things happen so you can appreciate the good things? Who knows. I do know that I'm ready for my referral. The house is a wreak, my 171H is expiring but I'd like to know where she is and if she's ok.

Does anyone want to cruise?

I have my Dec 2008 cruise booked already. Then it dawned on me that I could start a cruise group and get a discount for everyone. An inside cabin for this trip is $569. Usually groups get $100 off that in the form of onboard credits. Sometimes is $100 per person, sometimes per cabin, it depends on how many people sign up.

In order to join the cruise you need to become a free member of http://www.cruisecritic.com and go to the boards. My "are you interested link" is:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=508962

if you think you'd like to go, just post that you are interested. I have to have "X" amount of people together before I am able to get a quote on our discount. When you say you are interested it's not set in stone, it's a maybe, don't be afraid to post :)

Paying in advance for such a great trip is really the way to go. It's a measly $25 a paycheck for TWO people. $25? That's nothing!

This is the trip and it is on a brand new boat being released just this month!

1 Ft Lauderdale (Pt Evrglds), FL
4:00pm View Shore Excursions

3 San Juan, Puerto Rico 5:00pm 12:00am View Shore Excursions

4 St. Thomas, USVI 7:00am 6:00pm View Shore Excursions

5 Antigua 7:00am 6:00pm View Shore Excursions

8 Nassau, Bahamas 1:00pm 8:00pm View Shore Excursions

9 Ft Lauderdale (Pt Evrglds), FL 8:00am

I love the idea of 5 different stops. I basically get on the boat just to go other places (although I have to say I enjoyed boat time this time).
